Life expectancy:6 - 8 years
Commercially available ferret diets such as “Totally Ferret”, “Zupreme” or “Marshalls” brands appropriate for the life stage of your pet.
A large safe, escape-proof wire caging with solid floors, sweat-shirt bedding area, and a litter box in their ‘favorite’ corner. Ferrets need daily exercise, supervised in a “ferret proof” enclosure.
Cost: $75.00 - $150.00
Do not allow them access to anything they can chew up and swallow besides their appropriate diet. Do not forget to have them vaccinated against canine distemper as this disease is fatal and can be tracked home on your shoes.
Health tips: Distemper and Rabies vaccination, annual physical examination, parasite screening, flea control and appropriate dental care are essential for optimizing your ferret’s health and long-term quality of life. Ferrets are prone to endocrine disease and cancer. Early detection can make a huge difference in the success of treating these conditions.
